Bridgestone and ESA logistika have launched the largest tire warehouse near a production plant

Bridgestone and ESA logistika have opened a tire warehouse with an area of 50,000 sqm, where tires will be stored and shipped for further distribution.

What particularly distinguishes the complete warehouse processes implemented for Bridgestone are several sustainable solutions that allow for obtaining the BREEAM Excellent certificate. One of them is a 50kWp photovoltaic installation as well as modern technologies for saving energy and water and reducing CO2 emissions. For the well-being of employees, green relaxation zones are also being created around the hall.

Bridgestone is committed to achieving its main environmental goals; carbon neutrality and the use of 100% sustainable materials by 2050. – Our new project started with ESA logistika reflects our commitment to creating a supply chain and logistics with long-term benefits for the environment and fits perfectly into the „Ecology” and „Energy” values in the Bridgestone E8 Commitment – says Elżbieta Oussar, Logistics and Supply Chain Director, Bridgestone Europe East Region. Bridgestone has been systematically increasing its presence in Greater Poland for 24 years, where our largest factory in Europe is located. Along with the growing demand for our premium tires and the increase in production capacity at the Poznań plant, Bridgestone now has a new warehouse that meets our requirements on the way to an optimized and sustainable supply chain.

The hall is also equipped with innovative systems and tools that automate and facilitate work. These include a warehouse management system created by ESA logistika programmers, belt conveyors for unloading and loading individual tires and placing them on racks, and at a later stage, also robots for transporting tires and racks for their storage. ,,Innovation is something we use every day at ESA logistika. This time we are very lucky that Bridgestone is open to all novelties and will allow us to act broadly in this area. We plan to automate even such a prosaic matter as maintaining cleanliness'' – says Rafał Łuczak, IT and Implementation Manager at ESA logistika.

Despite such a high level of automation, the launch of the warehouse near Poznań will create more jobs. At the beginning, nearly 50 people found employment there. These are mainly warehouse workers, but also logistics specialists and shift managers.  ,,Entrusting such a large operation to ESA logistika is proof of the great trust that the client places in us. We are glad that our current activities show that we are ready to implement new, increasingly larger projects.'' – says Łukasz Dziewanowski, Managing Director of ESA logistika.

As Katarzyna Kujawiak, Development Director at Panattoni, says: ,,Last year alone, we delivered approximately 200,000 sqm for the automotive industry. The valuable experience we have gained in recent years is paying off. One of the results is a modern logistics center, where our client ESA logistika conducts operations for a global leader in the tire industry. Our competencies in sustainable construction also proved successful during the implementation of the facility. So far, we have completed environmental certification in Poland for facilities with a total area of over 6 million square meters.''

The warehouse is equipped with modern safety systems, in particular fire protection. The developer divided the investment into two zones separated by an REI 240 wall. Thanks to the special design of the external dock zone, employee safety has been increased. A characteristic feature of this project is attention to detail. Common goals, which all those involved have shared from the beginning, allow us to count on the full success of this cooperation.
