DHL Supply Chain opens a green logistics park for e-commerce in Gorzów Wielkopolski

Eight months after the cornerstone was laid, the global leader in logistics and supply chain management is opening an ecological logistics complex in Gorzów Wielkopolski. The DSC E-com Distribution Center facility was designed for the needs of the e-commerce industry. The general contractor was Atlas Ward. The DHL Supply Chain investment will create a total of several hundred new jobs in the region.

On April 19, representatives of the investor DHL Supply Chain, general contractor Atlas Ward, and the city authorities of Gorzów Wielkopolski ceremoniously inaugurated the operations of one of the most modern logistics parks in western Poland. The newly opened facility with an area of over 60,000 sqm is the first stage of the complex being built on Mosiężna Street. In total, it will offer 110,000 sqm of space tailored to the needs of companies in the e-commerce sector.

A huge advantage of the DSC E-com Distribution Center is its location. The logistics center is situated by the S3 expressway, close to the A2 motorway, and it is less than an hour's drive from the border with Germany. Additional potential that the latest DHL Supply Chain investment can draw from is the neighborhood and partnership relations with an important economic center such as Gorzów Wielkopolski. For several years, the city has been consistently working on its reputation as an important logistics hub for the western part of Poland.

“In Gorzów Wielkopolski, we have excellent ground for development. The new investment is a very important addition to our European fulfillment network and opens doors wide for the dynamic development of companies operating in the e-commerce sector. Every tenant that finds a place in the Gorzów facility can count on top-class service in a certified, green, and energy-efficient warehouse.” – says Orkun Saruhanoglu, CEO of DHL Supply Chain CEE.

The new warehouse is integrated into the European Fulfillment Network (EFN), which allows supported e-commerce clients to scale their business, develop dynamically, and access over 30 similar locations scattered across the continent. Presence in the network also means access to the latest digital tools and technologies, as well as support from DHL Supply Chain experts in preparing and implementing fulfillment strategies.

The DHL Supply Chain warehouse in Gorzów Wielkopolski is not just an excellent location and high quality of logistics services. It is also over several hundred new jobs for local residents. Working in a modern logistics center is an opportunity to gain valuable experience and develop a career.

Currently, DHL Supply Chain is conducting a recruitment process for the position of Warehouse Worker. Therefore, we encourage interested candidates to submit their applications and join the team of employees at the new e-commerce logistics center.

“The investor decided to cooperate with the Atlas Ward Polska Group because they were looking for a proven and reliable partner. Our experience, comprehensive consulting at every stage of the investment and construction process, and the guarantee of meeting the completion deadline were appreciated. The DHL Supply Chain warehouse is another investment that we are implementing using the most modern technologies and in accordance with the principles of sustainable construction – the facility will be certified in the BREEAM system at the ‘excellent’ level.” – explains Mariusz Górecki, CEO of Atlas Ward Polska – the general contractor.

From the very beginning, the investment was designed and implemented in accordance with the GoGreen DHL eco-policy. Certified in the BREEAM system at the “Excellent” level, the building is operationally neutral in the context of its carbon footprint. During its operation, the logistics center will minimize electricity consumption and take care of sustainable, economical use of other resources. A number of pro-ecological solutions will help with this, for example: sub-metering systems, skylights, systems controlling and limiting water consumption, or managing light. The temperature inside the facility will be controlled by heat pumps, and thanks to photovoltaic panels, the DSC E-com Distribution Center will also produce its own electricity.

Nearby the buildings, DHL Supply Chain has installed sockets that will allow for charging electric trucks and cars. This is significant because switching to e-trucks is one of the most important elements in implementing the DHL Deutsche Post Group “DSC GoGreen 2050” strategy, which assumes achieving zero-emission logistics by 2050.
