Innovative "Smart building" program in 20 SEGRO warehouses

Smart Building program also in Poland.

SEGRO has launched a pilot Smart Building program in 5 European countries: the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Poland. As part of the pilot, a number of innovative technologies will be tested, which according to SEGRO can improve the operational and environmental efficiency of buildings.

Intelligent technology is being installed in a wide range of buildings – both in SBU and big-box warehouses. The pilot program involves close cooperation with SEGRO clients, of which there are to be 12 in total. It is assumed that the first conclusions from the technology used will be visible in the middle of the year, while we will have to wait until December 2020 for detailed data.

„Smart Building technology can provide significant benefits to our customers. If sensors can tell what is happening in and around a building, tenants can make quick and effective decisions. A quick response on their part means lower costs, reduced energy consumption, increased efficiency and a better working environment for warehouse employees.” – says James Power, Director of Digital Technology at SEGRO

Goal: proper interpretation of data.

According to SEGRO, industrial buildings still pose a challenge for intelligent technologies. The pilot program is intended to help fully understand both the benefits and potential difficulties associated with implementing new technological systems.  „We are building our databases and checking analytical capabilities in all warehouses covered by the program. The proper interpretation of data generated by Smart Buildings is one of our main goals.” – emphasizes James Power

The Smart Building pilot program is one of the first initiatives that SEGRO is implementing as part of its Investment and Innovation Strategy, announced at the beginning of February 2020. It seems that the company, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, does not intend to rest on its laurels; on the contrary - it continues to set new directions in the industry.

List of locations covered by the program:
Poland: Poznań
Germany: Düsseldorf, Leipzig
Italy: Bologna, Milan, Rome
France: Marly, St Witz, Lyon
UK: Bracknell, Enfield, East Midlands Gateway, Greenford, Rainham, Rugby, Slough
