Panattoni will build a technically advanced production and warehouse complex for AZZ Specialty Welding Europe, a provider of specialized welding services for clients from various sectors, including fossil energy, refining, waste-to-energy, chemical processing, and nuclear energy. The 12,820 sqm facility will be built in Radom. Construction is planned to start in the third quarter of this year, and the tenant will be able to move in in March 2021.
The American company AZZ Inc., listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), is a global provider of metal galvanizing and coating solutions, welding services, specialized electronic equipment, and highly advanced engineering services for the maintenance and construction of critical infrastructure. The company's innovative technology provides the precision and power required in the power generation, transmission, and distribution markets, as well as the industrial market. For the needs of AZZ Specialty Welding Europe, Panattoni will build a BTS facility in Radom with an area of 12,820 sqm, of which 2,160 sqm will be allocated for office space. The industrial part of the facility will be divided into zones - production, warehouse, and service. It will include, among others, a compressor room with a distributed compressed air system, a paint shop, and installed overhead cranes and air curtains at the docks. The building will be equipped with welding towers capable of handling elements up to 15 m long; therefore, in an area of 2,000 sqm, the height of the hall will be increased to 17 m in the clear. The floor will also have different parameters to accommodate the increased load of the installed machines. Additionally, the roof will be reinforced - both due to the overhead cranes and the solar collector installation planned for the future. For the sake of the employees, the facility will also gain additional lighting (12.5% daylighting through roof skylights and light strips on the facade) and air conditioning solutions allowing for a constant temperature to be maintained in the building (min. 18 C). The heat transfer coefficient for the walls and roof will be in accordance with building standards that will come into force from 2021, and the entire building will be certified under the BREEAM system at the VERY GOOD level.
"We started our operations in Poland in 2004 in Radom, and our current plant has ceased to meet our growing production needs. Hence, we decided to build a new, technically advanced facility that will increase our production capacity" – explains
Wojciech Alzak, Operations Director, AZZ Specialty Welding Europe."Radom, located in Central Poland, is an excellent alternative to Warsaw. Land and rental prices are lower here than in the capital, and the local market offers access to well-qualified staff, which was important for the investor. After Warsaw, it is the largest city in the Masovian Voivodeship with 14 universities and a number of students exceeding 14,000, as well as convenient access to the motorway network" – says
Dariusz Proniewiecz, Development Director at Panattoni, about the advantages of the location.
The new AZZ plant will be located on a plot on ul. Hodowlana, right next to the S7 road (Warsaw-Kraków) and near the A2 motorway. It is a 1-hour drive to Warsaw, 2 hours to Kraków, and 3 hours to the Silesian industrial cluster. An additional advantage will be the planned international airport in Radom, serving Warsaw and the region.
