Panattoni builds for InPost in Lesser Poland

Panattoni will build a logistics center for the company InPost in Lesser Poland. The well-known logistics operator will occupy over 9,000 sq m as part of a new city park in Kraków. The facility will be ready in September 2021, and ultimately City Logistics Kraków I will consist of two halls with a total area of 36,500 sq m.

The first of the City Logistics Kraków I facilities with an area of 14,500 sq m will be ready in September of next year. It is here that InPost, the country's largest logistics operator, will occupy 9,040 sq m. The remaining space and the next facility (22,000 sq m) are speculative in nature and will be built in the Small Business Unit (SBU) formula. Thanks to this, and its excellent urban location, the park will be an excellent solution especially for companies in the e-commerce and courier industries.

„Spaces in city parks are a key link in streamlining operations on the e-shop – courier company – consumer line. They significantly facilitate the distribution of goods at the so-called last mile stage and maximize the reduction of delivery time for shipments to the recipient. Undoubtedly, Kraków with its large number of inhabitants (800,000) and a rich market must arouse the interest of these companies, especially in the era of rapid development of e-commerce and multi-channel sales strategies. Shortening the supply chain is currently a priority for many logistics companies” – explains Marek Dobrzycki, Managing Director at Panattoni.

"In 2020, we significantly expanded our infrastructure and increased our shipment handling capabilities by over 40%. This applies both to the number of Paczkomaty® InPost, the network of which has already exceeded 9,000, as well as the number of sorting centers and logistics centers. However, volumes are growing faster than we assumed – that is why we are not slowing down. We have introduced many innovative services – such as Paczka w Weekend, InPost Fullfilment or Urząd24. Paczkomaty® InPost work great during the pandemic – delivering millions of parcels on time, but also supporting city offices or hospitals. We are proud that our devices help solve everyday problems by offering contactless transfer of all kinds of goods and documents” – points out Rafał Brzoska, CEO of InPost. He also points to the Gemius report, according to which Paczkomaty® are already the most frequently chosen form of delivery. This type of goods delivery is preferred by as many as 61% of online shoppers. This means an increase in the popularity of the service among internet users by as much as 9 percentage points compared to the results of the 2019 report. For the first time in history, Paczkomaty® beat courier deliveries in popularity, which are chosen by 55% of respondents – this is the first result of this type in the world! Furthermore, as many as 68% of respondents declare that the possibility of picking up purchases via InPost devices motivates them to shop at a specific online store – this is an increase of 7 percentage points year-on-year.

Such an increase in turnover forces the expansion of infrastructure. Last year, the company leased a total of 107,950 sq m – this is 4% of the total net demand in the country. InPost was also a leader in the CEP industry in terms of space put into use in 2019 – a total of 57,863 sq m – thus overtaking DHL and Poczta Polska on the podium. The locations launched by InPost in 2019 position the company in the Top 3 most active e-commerce entities in the warehouse logistics market – the operator is second in this respect only to Amazon and Zalando, global e-sales giants.

Panattoni has a large share in this. At the moment, this logistics operator already occupies nearly 30,000 sq m of modern warehouse space provided by the developer, among others in Toruń, Szczecin, Opole or Olsztyn. This quarter, it will take over more in A2 East Warsaw Park (8,200 sq m), Panattoni Park Lublin III (8,100 sq m), Panattoni Park Bydgoszcz II (2,470 sq m) and Panattoni Park Białystok II (8,500 sq m).

City Logistics Kraków I will be built in the capital of Lesser Poland at Cementowa Street. It will be subject to BREEAM certification at the „Very Good” level. Right next to the park there is a tram and bus terminus, which will significantly facilitate access for employees. Additionally, the park is adjacent to the S7 route junction, connecting Kraków with Warsaw and the Tri-City. From here, you can also quickly reach the A4 motorway, running from the German border, through Upper Silesia to the border with Ukraine.
