Prologis to achieve net-zero emissions

In the 2021-2022 ESG Report, Prologis committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.

ESG is sustainable development detailed in three areas: environmental protection, social responsibility, and corporate governance. Only such a comprehensive approach to doing business and the parallel implementation of changes in each of these areas will allow for a real reduction in the negative impact of business activities on our planet. This very approach forms the foundation of the global ESG strategy at Prologis, which is an integral part of the company's business strategy.

It is important to talk about facts and actions actually taken – planned, implemented, and included in reports. That is why, continuously since 2013, Prologis has been publishing annual ESG reports, in which it presents the company's accomplishments and achievements in the field of ESG. In doing so, it creates conditions for sustainable development and boldly sets standards in the logistics real estate market.
In the 2021-2022 ESG Report, Prologis committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. This will be possible thanks to providing 1 GW of generating capacity from photovoltaic installations supported by energy storage, the mass implementation of carbon-neutral construction by 2025, and achieving net-zero emissions from operations by 2030.

"Prologis cares for all three ESG areas with equal commitment. This gives us a huge advantage in the Polish market, as most companies stop at environmental and social indicators. We care not only about the low carbon footprint of our buildings but also about creating better and friendly places to work and live. We create logistics parks where business and people can develop dynamically, all while respecting the natural environment." - says Paweł Sapek, Senior Vice President and Head of Prologis in Central Europe.

Regarding environmental protection, the key is to implement actions that will allow for climate change mitigation, adaptation to climate change, sustainable use of resources, transition to a circular economy, pollution prevention, or the protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems. In Europe, Prologis cooperates with the organization Cool Earth, which deals with the protection of rainforests. Each new facility is compensated by the protection of forests with an area 30 times larger than the building being constructed. In this way, 1,973 hectares of rainforests have been protected so far, and that is only from European investments. Advanced technological solutions are installed in the parks, which limit the carbon footprint and energy consumption.

Prologis remains an industry leader in terms of innovative ideas for decarbonizing operations. Since 2016, the Prologis Ventures division has invested 150 million dollars in nearly 40 companies, focusing on ESG and sustainable development. Currently, 57% of warehouses and office space in the global Prologis portfolio are equipped with LED lighting.
For example, at Prologis Park Janki, there are wind-powered street lamps or CO2-absorbing paving slabs, as well as a biopark – such green lungs of the park with places to rest, covering an area of one hectare. In all Prologis parks, green energy from Tauron flows – coming exclusively from RES. Importantly, the employee engagement rate at Prologis is 88%, which is 12 percentage points higher than the average engagement result for entities in the financial services sector.
