The largest transshipment hub in Europe is being built in Sławków

A strategic investment is beginning in Sławków in Silesia, which could dramatically change Poland's position on the logistics map of Europe. The expansion of the Euroterminal is intended to transform this point into the largest dry logistics port in Europe and significantly strengthen Poland's position in international trade.

The project assumes nearly doubling the terminal's current transshipment capacity – from approximately 285 thousand to over 500 thousand containers  (TEU) per year. This scale of expansion is the result of cooperation between the Industrial Development Agency and industry partners, who are planning total capital expenditures exceeding one billion euros.

The location of Euroterminal Sławków – at the junction of the broad-gauge and standard-gauge lines – makes it an ideal place for handling goods transported by rail between the Far East and Asia, and Western Europe via, among others, Ukraine. Additionally, the terminal fits into the European transport system also on the north-south axis, which increases its strategic importance.

One of the key goals of the investment is to prepare Poland for the logistical challenges associated with the reconstruction of Ukraine. The terminal in Sławków is to serve as the main transshipment point in this part of Europe, constituting an essential link in the supply chain of materials and goods necessary for the post-war reconstruction of the neighboring country.

The authorities also emphasize the importance of maintaining Polish control over strategic logistics infrastructure. Ensuring national supervision over the expanded terminal is intended to guarantee that Poland will be the main economic and operational beneficiary of the new investment.

During Monday's press conference in Sławków, Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted: "If we are talking about tens, hundreds of billions of zlotys that the world, Europe, and Ukraine will spend on the reconstruction of Ukraine, then we are expanding this logistics hub, this logistical heart of Europe, among other things, so that Poland can earn from it. There is nothing wrong with saying: yes, we want to earn big money for Poland from the reconstruction of Ukraine. We want to help, but we also want to earn from it. And for that, this special hub, this special dry port is needed"
