Cornerstone laid for the factory in Żary

Panattoni and Valmet Automotive sp. z o.o. – a leading supplier to the automotive industry – have officially inaugurated the expansion of the factory in Żary. On January 21, the cornerstone was laid for the construction of an 8,800 square meters build-to-suit (BTS) facility.

The cornerstone-laying ceremony was attended by Remigiusz Grześkowiak – President of the Management Board of Valmet Automotive sp. z o.o., Hubert Hoffman – President of Commercecon, Maciej Zawada – Head of Business Development at Panattoni BTS, representatives of local authorities: Edyta Gajda – Mayor of Żary, Wojciech Kasprów – Deputy Starost of Żary, and invited guests.

“Thanks to the company’s market successes, we are opening a new chapter today – officially beginning the expansion of the Żary factory. This will allow us to increase production capacity and strengthen our position in the European automotive market. The investment will ultimately result in the creation of as many as 350 new jobs,” said Remigiusz Grześkowiak, SVP of Valmet Automotive sp. z o.o.

The project being carried out by Panattoni involves expanding the existing plant with an additional 8,800 square meters of production and logistics space, including social and administrative facilities.

“Modern production facilities have already become a specialty of Panattoni’s BTS department. The expansion of the Valmet Automotive sp. z o.o. factory in Żary is another example of our strategy – creating tailor-made solutions for our partners that support their business growth now and in the future,” said Maciej Zawada, Head of Business Development at Panattoni BTS. He added: “One of the key elements of this project is ensuring the flexibility of the new facility, enabling it to adapt to the evolving needs of Valmet Automotive sp. z o.o. By executing construction alongside ongoing production, we ensure that the process proceeds without disrupting the plant’s current operations.”

The construction is expected to be completed in the spring of this year, with production at the new facility set to begin in the fourth quarter. 

Valmet Automotive sp. z o.o. specializes in complete convertible roof systems and kinematic systems for the automotive industry, including active spoilers and charging flaps for electric vehicles. The Żary factory will produce advanced aerodynamic systems developed at the company’s research center in Osnabrück, Germany. These systems contribute to increasing the range of electric vehicles and reducing fuel consumption in combustion engine cars.
