Citylink is selling land in Lodz to DSV for a transportation superhub. The 5.7-acre property, located on Plant Street, will house a new logistics center.
DSV aims to implement projects that accelerate the green transformation of the logistics sector and strengthen the resilience of national and European supply chains. The logistician is raising the bar on sustainability implementation, attaching importance to the highest environmental standards in all its facilities in Europe and Poland. DSV's priority is to ensure that all investments meet the most stringent environmental criteria and support customers in achieving individual CO2 reduction targets throughout the supply chain.
- We are pleased that the very good location offered by the Citylink Łódź project will be able to contribute to the DSV Group's goals of reducing the carbon footprint of its operations. The location of the site in Łódź Widzew, with direct access to public transport and only 1.5 km from the A1 freeway junction, guarantees excellent logistic service not only for Łódź, but also for the entire region of central Poland. What we have in common with DSV is our approach and understanding of the relevance of sustainability aspects in our warehouse investments. When preparing the project for construction in the land development process, we focused on a high level of environmental aspects with future users in mind,” comments Michal Gonicki, Leasing & Asset Manager at CL Property.
CL Property was responsible for the entire land development process, including the acquisition of individual plots of land from individuals and the City, through obtaining an environmental decision, and obtaining a building permit. The company also completed the exit, power line cabling and responsible demolition of the existing buildings.
The planned facility will consist of a cross-dock courier section and a high-bay warehouse, occupying a total of more than 26,000 square meters. The goal is to ensure energy self-sufficiency, so the building will be equipped with photovoltaic panels and energy storage. The investment also includes installations to support water efficiency and infrastructure to support electromobility, including chargers for vans and cars. The prototype for the Lodz investment is DSV's logistics center currently under construction in Wypędy near Warsaw.
- Today, ESG is an important part of the strategy of many of our business partners, and we are not only adapting to this trend, but are trying to pioneer it. We believe that reducing the carbon footprint will become a key business aspect, especially in the context of the future of the TSL market. I believe that companies operating in this industry that do not take concrete steps in implementing the goals of green transformation will lose their competitiveness,” stresses Wojciech Cipiur, CEO of DSV Solutions Polska.
DSV, as the new owner of the site, plans to start construction work at the beginning of 2025, and expects to launch the new facility in the fourth quarter of 2025.
