Hillwood Poland is proud to announce the introduction of new solutions to minimize light pollution at its warehouse development in Janki Sokolow.
The lighting of warehouse buildings is one of the factors that can contribute to light pollution, that is, the emission of artificial lighting outside the logistics center area, where it is not needed and can contribute to the discomfort of neighbors and negative environmental impact. Hillwood, listening to the voices of local communities, has taken steps to minimize this problem. At its Hillwood Janki Sokołów warehouse project, in the Michalowice municipality, the company has carried out solutions to ensure that artificial lighting of outdoor areas is minimized.
To reduce the negative impact of warehouse building lighting on the surrounding area, Hillwood has taken specific steps. First of all, traditional lighting fixtures were replaced with modern and efficient ones. In addition, their angle and light focus were adjusted to illuminate only its own property, while minimizing illumination of neighboring areas. Through these measures, Hillwood has reduced light scattering, providing greater control over the illuminated area.
Another step taken by Hillwood was to use a lighting control system. Thanks to it, the lighting operates at only 25% of its full capacity at night. This solution minimizes light pollution by reducing the amount of light emitted. In addition, it also has the effect of reducing the so-called indirect observer's glare and minimizing lighting interference with the neighboring area.
Through the use of these innovative solutions, Hillwood has achieved a number of benefits and reduced the negative impact on the environment.
First of all, the amount of light into the upper mezzanine has been reduced tenfold, which contributes to minimizing pollution of the sky.
In addition, luminaires and equipment have been installed that are expected to last for the next 25 years. Thus, the need for frequent replacement and waste generation is minimized.
- Hillwood's goal has always been not only to create state-of-the-art warehouse facilities, but also to take care of the environment and work with local communities and listen to the voices of local residents. We are proud of our innovative solutions that minimize light pollution and help protect the night sky. Our actions are proof that business success can go hand in hand with environmental protection and consideration of the needs of local communities," says Renata Michalczyk - Head of Asset & Property Management
Hillwood will continue its efforts in caring for the neighborhood and the environment. Our actions exemplify an innovative approach that achieves a balance between business development and environmental protection.
We encourage other developers to do the same and join us in our mission to minimize light pollution. With a shared commitment, we can create workplaces and spaces that are harmonious with the natural environment and that contribute to the well-being of local communities.
