ID Logistics strengthens cooperation with Lindt&Sprüngli, a global leader in the premium chocolate market. On June 1, 2020, a new distribution center for the chocolate manufacturer was launched in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, managed by the ID Logistics team. The new Lindt&Sprüngli distribution center in Grodzisk Mazowiecki supplies all stores, retail chains, wholesalers, and other points of sale across the country. The ID Logistics team is responsible for managing warehouse processes (storage, inventory management, order picking, and co-packing) and the distribution of chocolate products to delivery points (dedicated FTL transport).
The Lindt&Sprüngli distribution center in Grodzisk Mazowiecki is twice as large as the chocolate manufacturer's previous warehouse in Błonie near Warsaw. Its area is approx. 7,600 sqm, of which 7,000 sqm is warehouse space. The working height of the warehouse hall is 2 m higher than standard, at 12 m. 13,000 pallet spaces have been prepared for storing chocolate products. The co-packing zone, where promotional sets and display stands for retail chains and other points of sale are assembled, is also larger than in the Błonie warehouse. Its area is 600 m, and it has been adapted to the requirements of continuous operation. To ensure appropriate working comfort, the office and social area for employees has been expanded. The Lindt&Sprüngli distribution center meets strict requirements related to the storage and logistics handling of sensitive products, which include chocolates and chocolate products. They are stored at a strictly controlled positive temperature of 12°-16°C, with a constant air humidity level maintained at a maximum of 65 percent.
"The new Lindt&Sprüngli distribution center was opened exactly 10 years after the signing of the agreement between our companies. Thanks to our long-term cooperation, we have gained the experience and know-how that today allow us to guarantee the highest quality of warehouse service for sensitive products, chocolates, and chocolate products. We also used this data when designing the new warehouse, so we are sure that it meets the expectations of the client, our company, and the employees. Now we are ready to implement further solutions so as to best adapt to the Lindt&Sprüngli supply chain" – assures Marcin Papuga, warehouse director in Grodzisk Mazowiecki.
In the new Lindt&Sprüngli distribution center, modern solutions have been applied to increase the efficiency of warehouse operations, ensure safety, and be environmentally friendly, in accordance with the latest standards – including refrigeration technologies and air temperature control and measurement systems. The warehouse uses forklifts powered by lithium-ion (LI-LION) batteries. Touchscreen barcode terminals have been prepared for warehouse employees, which increases work comfort and simultaneously shortens the duration of picking processes. The warehouse is a facility with an increased fire resistance class, and solutions have also been introduced to prevent the effects of unplanned power outages. The Lindt&Sprüngli distribution center operates in accordance with strict quality standards, holds the ID Logistics Internal Quality System certificate – CID, and the international quality certificate IFS (International Food Standard).
ID Logistics has been cooperating with Lindt&Sprüngli (Poland) since 2010. From the beginning of the contract, the operator was responsible for managing the chocolate manufacturer's only distribution center in Poland, located in Błonie near Warsaw.
