A new industrial zone will be created in Łódź

Along with the growing needs of business, Łódź plans to expand the industrial zone in Olechów and create a completely new one in Chocianowice.

Central Poland is the third largest warehouse market in Poland. The largest industrial and warehouse districts in Łódź and the surrounding area are located in close proximity to the expressways surrounding Łódź. In recent years, the warehouse hub has been Stryków, but also the area of the Łódź Widzew-Olechów district.

The city plans to enlarge the industrial zone in Olechów and launch a new one in Chocianowice.

"Ahead of us is the expansion of ul. Nad Dobrzynką. We have signed a contract with the contractor for an amount of over 13 million PLN. At the moment, the design stage is underway. We plan for construction work to start in 2022. The result of the investment will be a new road on the section from the Rypułtowy junction on DK-14 to ul. Łaskowice (approx. 1.2 km long) along with a pedestrian and bicycle path. In addition, we will develop green areas, new lighting will appear, as well as a bridge over the watercourse crossing ul. Nad Dobrzynką." – says Agnieszka Kowalewska-Wójcik, Director of the Municipal Investment Board at UM Łódź.

The area where the new industrial zone will be created is still undeveloped today. It consists of vast fields and wasteland stretching north from national road No. 14 to ul. Chocianowicka. From the west, the boundary of the zone will be marked by ul. Nad Dobrzynką. To the east, the new industrial areas will begin just behind Port Łódź and the Ikea store.

Currently, offers are being checked in the tender for the development of design documentation for the construction of a communication system in the newly emerging industrial zone in Chocianowice. Signing the contract with the project contractor is planned for the turn of 2021/2022.

Changes will also include Olechów. The PKP area, which is located between al. Ofiar Terroryzmu 11 Września and ul. Jędrzejowska, is an important investment area of the city, serving, among others, a freight terminal. The roads around the terminal in Olechów are awaiting major investments. Aleja Ofiar Terroryzmu 11 Września will be extended, and the Jędrzejowska street located on the other side of the tracks will be rebuilt.

"Experts confirm that Łódź is the logistics heart of Poland. Our region successfully attracts international distribution and production companies that choose Łódź due to its dynamic development, qualified employees, and favorable conditions for doing business. The new industrial zone in Chocianowice, the expansion of Olechów, or the 3rd stage of the construction of the Trasa Górna - these are examples of new investment areas." - adds Adam Brzostowski, Acting Director of the Office of Economic Development and International Cooperation.
