Auchan to launch a warehouse at the GLP Lędziny logistics centre

Auchan Retail Polska will launch another warehouse in the Upper Silesia region, which will be opened by the S1 expressway, in the newly emerging GLP logistics centre in Lędziny – one of the most modern investments of this type in Poland. This is the first stage of the transformation of Auchan's logistics infrastructure, in line with the assumptions of the chain's new Supply Chain and Logistics strategy. 54,000 sqm of modern warehouse and office space will be built to handle food products, including fresh products requiring special conditions.

The new Auchan warehouse in GLP Park Lędziny will focus on proximity to the market and cooperation with local suppliers offering local products. It will serve to optimize the company's distribution network and ensure the highest quality and safety of the food offered to customers. Implemented in accordance with the requirements of the BREEAM ecological certification at the very good level, it will also support the implementation of the chain's sustainable development goals, especially the reduction of the carbon footprint.

„This investment best shows the direction in which the reconstruction of our logistics infrastructure is heading. We are focusing on modern technologies, better use of the building, and proximity to both our customers and suppliers – these elements will also be repeated in subsequent stages of this restructuring. It is also part of the preparations for the expansion of our new convenience store concept under the Easy Auchan brand, implemented in cooperation with bp. In this respect, it is a strategic location for us” – says Piotr Dopierała, Supply Chain & Logistics Director at Auchan Retail Polska - „Choosing the right partners for such important undertakings is key. We appreciate not only the qualities of the modern warehouse and its location, but also the experience of GLP as a developer and manager of industrial real estate, an innovative company that cares about long-term relationships with clients on a partnership basis.”

„The project in Lędziny is being implemented in accordance with the new standard for logistics real estate - GLP Design Standard. The Auchan warehouse will be distinguished by a storage height increased to 12 meters and a picking zone deepened to 24 meters, which is twice as deep as in a typical warehouse. It is also an environmentally friendly building. We have a roof prepared for the installation of photovoltaic panels, electric car chargers, as well as an above-standard number of roof skylights, which will reduce the consumption of artificial light and enable work in healthier conditions” – says Christophe Brzeziński, Head of Technical Development at GLP Poland.
