Biedronka opens its most modern distribution center in Stawiguda
As of September 27, the Biedronka logistics system now has 17 distribution centers. The chain's most modern and largest warehouse was built in Stawiguda near Olsztyn and can ultimately serve up to 250 stores in the north-eastern part of the country. The warehouse is already carrying out its first deliveries to selected stores.
- The distribution center in Stawiguda, located on a picturesque Warmian hill, near important junctions of the S51 and S7 expressways, is a great point for conducting logistics operations in the north-eastern part of Poland. The final area of the buildings is over 35,000 square meters, and the warehouse itself is equipped with the latest inventory management technologies, intelligent lighting systems, and ecological solutions that reduce environmental impact.
The opening of this warehouse is an important moment for us, preceded by months of hard work. From the perspective of a chain focused on dynamic development, logistics conditions are crucial and influence the optimization of many processes, which benefit everyone – from customers and our employees to the environment. The distribution center is equipped with nearly 200 forklifts with maintenance-free lithium-ion batteries, 175 trucks, and 1000 refrigerated containers. Thanks to the use of the latest SAP EWM warehouse management system, the center will be able to serve up to 250 stores and ship over 6000 pallets daily. In September, a contract was signed for the installation of over 1700 photovoltaic panels on the warehouse roof, with an efficiency of 600 kWp1.

On a plot of almost 14 hectares, in addition to the distribution center buildings, there are also flower meadows and an insect hotel, providing shelter for pollinators such as the mason bee. The ceremonial ribbon was cut by representatives of the Biedronka chain and local authorities.
- The warehouse in Stawiguda will not only be an important element of the Biedronka logistics network, but also a support for the labor market in a region where unemployment reaches 7.5%2. About 600 people will find employment here, making this Biedronka distribution center one of the largest employers in the region.We are glad that Biedronka has decided to be an even more important part of the local community – generating many jobs for the residents of our region. Construction of the distribution center in Stawiguda began in July 2021 and was completed just over a year later – in September 2022. The main contractor for the works was the company FUSTE.
The Biedronka logistics system is based on 17 distribution centers, with a total warehouse area of almost 450,000 m2, located to ensure an efficient supply chain to almost 3300 stores across the country.
