Panattoni has completed the construction of a BTS facility for Phoenix Contact E-Mobility in Rzeszów. Despite difficulties at the start of construction related to, among other things, the second wave of the pandemic, the facility was built on time, which is largely due to the Rzeszów district authorities. On 15,000 sq m, ultra-modern electric vehicle charging systems will be manufactured and tested for global customers and operators of electromobility infrastructure. Devices produced by Phoenix Contact E-Mobility, including High Power Charging types, are a leading solution in Europe, among others, which ensures fast and safe charging of electric cars. The newly created plant will also house the Client's new product and technology development department.
The factory for AC and DC charging systems was built in the Rzeszów-Dworzysko Science and Technology Park at a record pace. The start of construction was delayed by over a month, and the construction itself took a record 5 months, thanks to which the factory was handed over to Phoenix Contact E-Mobility on schedule, i.e., on December 21 of this year.
"Maintaining such a disciplined implementation mode would not have been possible without the participation of Phoenix Contact representatives, who showed great understanding of the complexity of the process and very actively joined in all aspects of the project implementation, reacting appropriately and supporting Panattoni in the process" – explains Michał Chodecki, BTS Development Director responsible for the project for Phoenix Contact.
The joint effort is best evidenced by the fact that in a short time, not only was the factory built, but also power, municipal heating, water, storm and sanitary sewage connections were brought to it, and two access roads were constructed. All this required close cooperation also with the local fire department, water supply company, power utility, construction supervision, labor inspectorate, and finally the Sanepid, busy fighting COVID.
„We highly value every investor in our area. Thanks to them, the region is developing and new jobs are being created. We are especially happy that this time Rzeszów has attracted an entity extremely important in the system of manufacturers and subcontractors of the electromobility industry”. – comments Józef Jodłowski, Starosta Rzeszowski.
„We are very pleased that we managed to complete the construction in Rzeszów in such record time, and all this thanks to good cooperation with Panattoni and local authorities. In the last days of 2020, we were able to start operations in our plant, and the team has already produced the first AC charging cables. In the coming weeks, we are preparing to install further equipment and hire new employees. Thanks to the convenient location in the Dworzysko Science and Technology Park, with well-developed infrastructure, our plant will become an important place in the production network of Phoenix Contact E-mobility. In parallel, further investments are also being carried out at the headquarters in Germany, which are aimed at increasing production capacity”. - explains Christoph Paetzold, Project Manager of the new plant in Rzeszów.
The plant occupies a total area of 15,000 sq m, of which 14,000 sq m is production and warehouse space, and 1,000 sq m is office space. The plan assumes the start of production as early as the first quarter of 2021, and within the next few years, the factory will employ over 250 workers. In accordance with the sustainable development strategy adopted by Panattoni, the building is also environmentally friendly and is subject to BREEAM certification at the Very Good level.
The factory built by Panattoni for Phoenix Contact E-Mobility is located in the „Rzeszów-Dworzysko” Science and Technology Park named after Dr. Grażyna Gęsicka, on an investment site prepared and serviced by the Rzeszów District. The facility is located by the S-19 route, which is part of the „Via Carpathia”, which will ultimately connect Klaipeda in Lithuania with Thessaloniki in Greece. Nearby is also the A4 motorway, running from the border with Germany to the border with Ukraine. It is a 15-minute drive from here to the Rzeszów airport.
