Dan Cake to build a logistics center

Dan Cake Polonia, a leading producer in the bakery and confectionery industry in Poland, is expanding its facility in Chrzanów with its own logistics center. This is the next stage of investments carried out by the company within the framework of the Polish Investment Zone. The project includes the construction of a logistics center consisting of three halls: a loading hall, a connecting hall, and a fully automated high-bay warehouse. The investment also includes the necessary infrastructure, such as access roads and parking lots. The new areas will occupy over 4,500 m2 of space. Thus, after the expansion, the facility's floor area will increase to over 20,000 m2.

The expansion of the facility is the next stage of the company's intensive development. The entire project, implemented based on the PSI decision, has a total value of over 70 million PLN. In connection with this project, another production line for Milk Rolls and Burger Buns has already been launched at the Dan Cake plant, and the implementation stage of automation in the packaging zone in the new production hall is being completed, through the use of UR robots and a carton stacking robot from Rober.  The latter, after the facility expansion, will transfer entire pallets, via a network of conveyor belts, to the modern high-bay warehouse.  This facility will be just over 30 meters high, making it one of the tallest buildings in Chrzanów, and will be able to accommodate up to 5,000 pallets.

"The expansion of the production facility is an important part of Dan Cake's long-term development strategy. We strive to be a modern company that uses the latest technological achievements. However, we always carry out our development based on the principles of sustainable development, not only taking care of the natural environment but also of local communities and our long-term business partners" – says Małgorzata Chudzik, Member of the Board of Dan Cake Polonia. – "The market for packaged bread is growing systematically, which is why, as a leader in the industry, we want to proactively respond to the growing needs of consumers in this regard" – she adds.

A high-bay warehouse is a very economical solution. It is characterized by having a larger usable area and a significantly higher degree of volume utilization than is the case with traditional warehouses. The most important benefit resulting from storing goods in a high-bay warehouse is a significant reduction in costs through more efficient use of space and optimization of warehouse processes. These types of warehouses are energy-efficient and soundproof, and they also do not cause additional noise emissions or generate pollution into the atmosphere.

Also worth noting is the fact that automated high-bay warehouses provide employees with a significantly higher level of work safety.

The facility will be equipped with multi-level racks, specialized loading ramps, programmable transporters, conveyors, and specialized stacker cranes and rack lifts. Furthermore, the analysis of inventory levels will be conducted through an integrated computer system, which will guarantee the safety of the stored goods.

The new Dan Cake logistics center, due to the high degree of mechanization and automation of warehouse and logistics processes, will require the employment of highly qualified technical and logistics staff. In addition to looking for new employees, the company is already taking care of the systematic development and training of its staff.

The expansion will be organized in such a way as not to paralyze the work of the plant and to maintain its full production capacity. The completion of the expansion is planned for December 2022.
