DHL Supply Chain opens its first warehouse with the AutoStore system in Central and Eastern Europe

DHL Supply Chain announces the opening of the first warehouse in Poland equipped with the innovative AutoStore system. The robotic warehouse in Gorzów Wielkopolski is also the first implementation of the AutoStore system by the global leader in contract logistics in the Central and Eastern Europe region. The design and implementation of the system were handled by Element Logic, an AutoStore partner and one of the leading global distributors of automated warehouse solutions. Modern warehouse automation in Gorzów Wielkopolski will strengthen Poland's position in the European e-commerce supply chain.

A new dimension of logistics efficiency

AutoStore is an automated warehouse system in which products are moved inside the warehouse by a fleet of robots. This solution significantly improves inventory management, covering hundreds of thousands of diverse goods. The system uses an aluminum frame structure in which each product is placed in a special container called a bin and is stored within the entire warehouse structure.

AutoStore uses a fleet of 25 robots and 33,000 bins to move products around the warehouse. The robots support employees in the order picking process by independently finding the necessary bins (containers), retrieving them, and transporting them to the so-called Port (workstation). In the next step, the completed orders go to the packing area. Thanks to the cooperation between humans and technology, orders are picked and shipped to customers much faster.

We are proud to implement such a modern technological solution in our logistics network in Poland. AutoStore is a system already proven in other countries, and our experience shows that it is a highly profitable investment. With nine operating AutoStore systems and three more under construction, DHL Supply Chain is one of the world's leading users of this technology. Our experience shows that it is a highly profitable investment that addresses key industry challenges, such as labor costs, rising warehouse space expenses, and environmental issues. This facility is another step in the DHL Group's global strategy to develop innovative and efficient logistics solutions.– Hendrik Venter, CEO EMEA DHL Supply Chain.

The technical launch of AutoStore in the Gorzów warehouse, after 12 months of installation and several weeks of testing, took place on August 21 and was a success. The fully robotic warehouse operating today is a gem of innovative logistics in the Western Wall region.

Cooperation with Element Logic and the benefits of implementing AutoStore

The AutoStore solution is crucial for companies striving to optimize warehouse processes. We are pleased that we could cooperate with DHL Supply Chain on this groundbreaking project for the region – emphasizes Anna Wiśniewska, Managing Director of Element Logic, the supplier of the system to the facility located at ul. Mosiężna 3 in Gorzów Wielkopolskim.

Benefits of implementing the AutoStore system:

Space saving: Thanks to the vertical structure and dense storage of bins, the warehouse can accommodate more goods in a smaller area.
Operational efficiency: Process automation shortens order picking time and increases warehouse throughput.
Flexibility: The modular design of the system allows for easy expansion as needs grow.
Improved work ergonomics: Employees are relieved of heavy physical work, which increases safety and work comfort.

Poland as a key link in the supply chain

According to the latest industry reports, Poland has become an important link in the supply chain for the e-commerce sector in the Central and Eastern Europe and Northern Europe regions over the last few years. Investments in modern logistics technologies, such as AutoStore, contribute to increasing the competitiveness of Polish logistics centers on the international stage.
