Six months after launching its operations in Central Europe, GLP has started the construction of a new logistics center in Upper Silesia. In Lędziny, directly by the S1 expressway, warehouse and production facilities with a target area of over 110,000 sqm will be built. This is one of the most modern investments of this type in Poland – the buildings will be taller than typical warehouses, more ecological, and better adapted to the changing needs of clients.
Work on the plot located directly at the S1 expressway junction, 10 minutes from the A4 motorway, has already begun. By the middle of this year, 37,000 sqm of warehouse, production, and office space will be created there, which is already partially leased. The general contractor for the project is CFE, which collaborated with GLP on the construction of a BTS-type facility for Valeo in Skawina.
„I am pleased that we can once again cooperate with GLP on the realization of a modern logistics center. This project fits perfectly into our sustainable development strategy, Together We Go Green” – says Bruno Lambrecht, General Manager of CFE.
The project in Lędziny is being implemented in accordance with the GLP Design Standard. This means, among other things, that the buildings will be distinguished by a storage height increased to 12 meters and a roof prepared for the installation of photovoltaic panels. These solutions will allow tenants to use the occupied space more efficiently and achieve real savings. Furthermore, the halls will have a picking zone deepened to 24 meters, additional natural lighting, and increased floor load capacity (7.5 tons/sqm). A Smart Metering system will also be installed, allowing clients to monitor utility consumption in real-time, e.g., via a smartphone. Electric vehicle chargers will be placed in front of the office areas, and a bus stop will be built at the entrance to the park. The GLP logistics park in Lędziny will be built in accordance with the requirements of the BREEAM ecological certification at the „very good” level.
