GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics and industrial real estate, has received a building permit for the next stage of the Pomeranian Logistics Centre in Gdańsk. An additional 38,920 sqm of warehouse and production space will be built in the vicinity of the DCT Gdańsk container terminal.
The new building will be constructed in accordance with the GLP Design Standard, which represents best practices in sustainable development.
The Pomeranian Logistics Centre is a multimodal facility that has excellent access to national and international sea, road, rail, and air routes. The investment is located next to DCT Gdańsk – the largest deep-water port on the Baltic Sea, which is already visited by the world's largest transport ships, and its upcoming expansion will increase the handling capacity of DCT to 4.5 million TEU annually.
Construction of the new facility will begin this autumn, which will be even better adapted to customer needs and more ecological. The increased hall height of 12 meters means that customers will gain an additional storage level, which can generate up to 20% savings on rent.
The reinforced roof structure will enable the installation of photovoltaic panels, and the shifting of the first row of columns will facilitate maneuvering with forklifts in the loading zone, which has been expanded to 24 meters in width. The increased floor load capacity of 7 tons per square meter will withstand the pressure of heavy production machinery. Other amenities include more natural light thanks to a doubled number of skylights, LED lighting, and an intelligent system monitoring and controlling utility consumption.
Our distribution center next to the DCT Gdańsk container terminal is an ideal place for companies using sea freight that value amenities related to transshipment or customs procedures. The new facility with an elevated standard will provide them with real savings and more efficient use of the occupied space – says Magdalena Górska-Wojtas, Business Development Manager GLP.
In the Pomeranian Logistics Centre there are already four buildings with a total area of 150,000 sqm. The next facility will be ready in the summer of 2022. Ultimately, up to 500,000 sqm of high-quality logistics space along with office facilities may be built here.
