GLP has finalized the transaction to purchase a portfolio of high-quality logistics properties from Goodman Group in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. As a result, GLP is now present in 11 European countries.
GLP has been active in European markets since 2017, when it acquired Gazeley, subsequently conducting operations in Europe under that name and managing assets with a total value of 7 billion dollars, located in, among others, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands. From now on, all of GLP's operations in Europe will be conducted exclusively under its own brand.
„Since our debut in 2017, GLP has expanded its operations in selected markets, in line with our pan-European strategy, to meet the needs of investors. We are convinced that the favorable macroeconomic situation, urban development, the growth of the e-commerce market, and proximity to major distribution hubs are the main advantages of the logistics real estate market in Central and Eastern Europe”. - comments Nick Cook, President of GLP Europe.
The properties purchased by GLP, previously belonging to Goodman, are located on key transport routes, providing easy access to growing distribution and e-commerce markets and representing a convenient solution for customers looking for development opportunities in Central and Eastern Europe. Former Goodman employees in each of the four countries have joined the GLP team.
Gazeley, the bridgehead for GLP's European expansion, built its position over 30 years as one of the leading warehouse investors and developers on the continent. Initially operating as part of the Walmart group, Gazeley developed its presence in the British market and subsequently in other European countries. In 2017, it was acquired by GLP, becoming the European arm of its logistics real estate business. Since that moment, the value of assets managed by Gazeley has doubled, and the company itself has entered new markets and increased its headcount.
With the adoption of Gazeley and Goodman under a common brand, GLP will offer customers entirely new opportunities, including access to innovative solutions and a global business network.
"Since we became part of GLP, we have witnessed not only unprecedented growth in the countries where we operated previously, but also expansion into six new markets. Further development under the common name GLP is a natural evolution for us. GLP is synonymous with forward-thinking and technologically advanced solutions in logistics buildings. Combined with the knowledge of our local teams in Europe, we are becoming better and stronger than ever before.” - adds Nick Cook.
