High-bay warehouse under construction in Kutno

In the Kutno subzone of the Łódź Special Economic Zone, the expansion of the logistics center for Katoen Natie, a Belgian company specializing in providing innovative logistics solutions, has begun. The general contractor for the facility is Commercecon.

"The facility is being built in a built-to-suit formula, which gives us the opportunity to shape the warehouse space according to the client's future needs from the very beginning. To increase the efficiency of goods flow, the hall will have 10 loading docks. We will connect it with the operator's existing facilities via a network of internal roads, and as part of the general contracting, we will also develop the area around it." - explains Robert Knap, construction manager at Commercecon.

The logistics center under construction is another investment by the Belgian company in Kutno. In 2020, it took over the 40,000 sqm Nijhof-Wassink logistics complex and a silo farm, and then began the process of expanding the existing infrastructure by erecting batteries of an additional 42 silos. The new high-bay warehouse confirms the Investor's earlier announcements about further business development in central Poland.

"The constant and dynamic economic growth of Poland and the region, the geographical location of Kutno, and the local infrastructure have prompted the Katoen Natie group to make further investments. We have an ambitious development plan outlined for the coming years, which we hope to implement systematically" - explains Łukasz Kacprzak, managing director of Katoen Natie Polska.

The Kutno subzone in the Łódź Special Economic Zone consists of conveniently located investment areas, well-connected by a network of national roads and the A1 motorway. The proximity of the E20 railway line and a network of sidings further facilitate the logistics operations of the entities operating here.

"Apart from the location and transport accessibility, we also stand out due to our well-developed infrastructure. The ability to use the services of one of two energy or gas operators is not something common in many industrial zones. New investments mean new, increasingly interesting jobs, which become a magnet attracting new residents" - explains Zbigniew Burzyński, mayor of Kutno.
