Hillwood builds a cross-dock for DPD in Szczecin
Hillwood has started construction of a logistics center for DPD Polska in Szczecin. The building with an area of nearly 5,000 sqm is being developed in a build-to-suit (BTS) system, i.e., to order and according to the client's guidelines. This is the third project carried out by Hillwood for DPD.DPD Polska is a leading courier company on the Polish market and part of the French shipping company – DPDgroup. As a company with Polish capital - Masterlink Express – it began its operations in Poland in 1991.
The logistics center in Szczecin, which is to have nearly 5,000 sqm of warehouse and office space, will be used as a cross-dock for transshipment of goods and sending them to final recipients. The hall will be equipped with automatic sorters.
"The dynamic development of e-commerce and the related logistics industry are setting new trends in the market for modern warehouse space. In addition to large logistics centers, so-called last-mile warehouses, located within the borders of large cities, are developing faster and faster, thanks to which courier shipments are delivered to the target recipients much faster and more efficiently. An example of such a warehouse is our project for DPD Polska" – says Hubert Michalak, President of the Management Board of Hillwood Polska.
"The new facility in Szczecin is intended to streamline processes and thus increase the operational potential of DPD Polska in north-western Poland. This is of significant importance given the growing demand for courier services. The logistics model implemented by DPD Polska since 2018 allows for faster transport, reduced road connection costs, and lower CO2 emissions. The new facility in Szczecin is an important part of it and is being built in accordance with modern technological and energy standards" - comments Rafał Nawłoka, President of the Management Board of DPD Polska.
The warehouse in Szczecin is the third project carried out by Hillwood for DPD Polska. In 2018, the developer built one of the most innovative facilities of this type in Poland for the courier company – a sorting plant with office space in Parzniew near Pruszków, with an area of 14,000 sqm. The second completed investment is a warehouse with an area of 11,800 sqm in the modern Hillwood Ruda Śląska logistics park.
