Hillwood Polska proudly announces the introduction of new solutions aimed at minimizing light pollution at its warehouse investment in Janki Sokołów.
Lighting of warehouse buildings is one of the factors that can contribute to light pollution, i.e., the emission of artificial light outside the area of a logistics center where it is not needed and can contribute to discomfort for neighbors and a negative impact on the environment. Listening to the voices of local communities, Hillwood has taken action to minimize this problem. At its Hillwood Janki Sokołów warehouse investment, in the Michałowice municipality, the company has implemented solutions ensuring the minimization of artificial lighting in outdoor areas.
To reduce the negative impact of warehouse building lighting on the surroundings, Hillwood has taken concrete steps. First of all, traditional lighting fixtures were replaced with modern and efficient ones. Additionally, their tilt angle and light focus were adjusted so as to illuminate only their own property, while simultaneously minimizing the illumination of neighboring areas. Thanks to these actions, Hillwood has limited light dispersion, ensuring greater control over the illuminated area.
The next step taken by Hillwood was the application of a lighting control system. Thanks to it, the lighting operates at only 25% of its full power at night. This solution minimizes light pollution by limiting the amount of emitted light. Furthermore, it also influences the reduction of so-called glare for indirect observers and minimizes the interference of lighting in the neighboring area.
Thanks to the application of these innovative solutions, Hillwood has achieved a number of benefits and reduced its negative impact on the environment.
First of all, the amount of light directed into the upper hemisphere has been reduced tenfold, which contributes to the minimization of skyglow.
Additionally, fixtures and devices have been installed whose service life is expected to last for the next 25 years. Thanks to this, the need for frequent replacement and waste generation is minimized.
– The goal of Hillwood has always been not only to create modern warehouse facilities but also to care for the natural environment and cooperate with local communities and listen to the voices of residents. We are proud of our innovative solutions that minimize light pollution and contribute to the protection of the night sky. Our actions are proof that business success can go hand in hand with environmental protection and taking into account the needs of local communities – says Renata Michalczyk – Head of Asset & Property Management
Hillwood will continue its actions in care for the neighborhood and the natural environment. Our actions constitute an example of an innovative approach that allows for achieving a balance between business development and environmental protection.
We encourage other development companies to take similar actions and join our mission of minimizing light pollution. Thanks to joint commitment, we can create workplaces and spaces that are harmonious with the natural surroundings and that contribute to the well-being of local communities.
