This is already the 60th InPost logistics center in Poland. The facility, with an area of 8500 m2, will eventually employ almost 300 people as of September 28 this year.
InPost - the European leader in logistics solutions for e-commerce, has opened its second logistics center in Łódź. It will eventually employ almost 300 people.
The solutions applied will not only significantly improve the supply chain in the region but are part of a nationwide infrastructure that already consists of 60 operational centers.
Located in close proximity to the A1 motorway at the Central Logistics HUB, the InPost logistics center occupies 8500m2, of which 7500m2 is designated for warehouse space. The remaining space is occupied by offices.
The facility opened today features many solutions that automate and accelerate processes related to the functioning of the supply chain. Among them are, among others, a system for automatic identification of vehicles authorized to enter the company's premises, or modern and efficient automatic sorting lines.
- An effective, modern, and perfectly optimized supply chain is the key to success in the logistics industry. I can confidently say that this is exactly what is offered by InPost. Properly located logistics centers combined with the Paczkomat® network, InPost Fulfillment services, and excellent courier work organization have made us not only leaders in the industry but also an inspiration to others. When designing this perfectly functioning organism, we know that it must meet requirements not only in a business context but, above all, it must respond to social and environmental needs. Today, the Paczkomat® network is the most ecological form of delivery. We are not resting on our laurels, however, and are systematically implementing the goals contained in our sustainable development strategy, including those related to reducing the impact of business on the world. This center is another implementation, alongside the InPost Green City program, the fleet of electric cars, or the introduced so-called eco-returns, which shows that ecological and effective logistics can go hand in hand – emphasizes Dariusz Lipiński, Vice President of InPost.
In the modern, comfortable, and ergonomically designed warehouse and office space, over 200 people are already working today, and in the near future, employment will increase to almost 300. InPost continues to conduct recruitment processes, looking for carriers, couriers, warehouse and technical staff, and specialists. In addition to the modern, comfortable, and ergonomic warehouse and office space, employed staff can use convenient parking lots, bicycle shelters, or chargers for electric vehicles.
- We highly appreciate companies that approach cooperation with local government on partnership terms. Undoubtedly, InPost belongs to this group. The company not only develops business activities, providing employment to residents of Łódź, but also supports us in implementing initiatives that raise their standard of living. One of them is the InPost Green City program. As a result of cooperation within its framework, residents of Łódź can use many pro-ecological solutions integrated into the urban fabric, such as a network of electric car charging stations or Paczkomat® devices with air sensors, and soon also a forest playground currently under construction - explains Hanna
Zdanowska, Mayor of the city of Łódź.
The new InPost logistics center will allow for the simultaneous handling of 160 couriers and several dozen regular freight connections. It will significantly shorten the delivery time of parcels to recipients both in Paczkomat® machines and in the courier service within a 50-kilometer radius of Łódź and its right-bank part. A number of solutions have also been implemented in the new center to help reduce the impact of business operations on the environment. The facility has, among other things, an automated electricity management system that reduces water consumption, as well as LED lighting with zone dimming. Where possible, it is sourced from natural sources. Among other things, rainwater is collected in the building, which is used in sanitary facilities and for watering green areas. A photovoltaic farm is also located on the center's premises, helping to obtain clean electricity. Implementing pro-ecological solutions in InPost's daily processes is an element of the consistently implemented sustainable development strategy. One of the leading programs in this area is the InPost Green City program, for which Łódź was the first partner city. The result of the cooperation is the replacement of the car fleet with electric ones, the installation of a network of air sensors and chargers for electric cars, support for scholarship holders of the Młodzi w Łodzi program, and now also the construction of an ecological playground for children and youth in the Janów district of Łódź. The ceremonial opening of the center was attended by the Mayor of the city of Łódź Hanna Zdanowska, Vice President of InPost Dariusz Lipiński, and Director of Partnership Relations and the InPost Green City Program Marta Zalewska.
