Mercedes-Benz invests in development in Lower Silesia

Mercedes-Benz continues its expansion in Poland, announcing another major investment within the Wałbrzyska Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna „Invest-Park”. As part of its business development, the corporation has purchased two plots of land with a total area of over 46 ha, which will be used to build a modern industrial park in Jawor and the neighboring municipality of Męcinka.

The newly purchased areas – 11.3 ha in the Jawor municipality and 34.8 ha in the Męcinka municipality – expand the infrastructure related to the construction of a light commercial vehicle factory, announced by Mercedes-Benz on December 4, 2024. The plant, based on the transformation of the existing engine and battery factory, will be a key element of the Mercedes-Benz Vans production network in Europe, focusing on electromobility. From 2026, all new models of the brand's medium and large vans will be based on the electric VAN.EA platform.

Industrial park as support for production processes

The areas in the Męcinka municipality will be developed into an industrial park, which will be responsible for sequencing assembly materials and pre-assembly, carried out by Mercedes-Benz suppliers. Thanks to its location directly next to the production plant and optimized logistics, the industrial park will streamline production processes and contribute to increased efficiency.

We are hosting in Lower Silesia a brand that is not only an icon of the automotive industry, but also a symbol of innovation and technological changes in the manufacturing industry. From the region's point of view, this is a stable partner that represents responsible business and great openness to the local environment – comments Wojciech Smoliński, President of Wałbrzyska Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna „Invest-Park”.

Significance of the investment for the region

Mercedes-Benz investments in Lower Silesia now cover three locations with a total area of over 147 ha. The construction of the new factory and industrial park not only strengthens Poland's position on the map of European electromobility, but also generates new jobs and develops the local economy.

Thanks to this strategy, Jawor and its surroundings are becoming a key point on the map of industrial innovation, attracting investors and supporting the transformation towards more ecological motoring.

Technologically advanced production, a modern system of its organization, and perfect logistics are the features of the investment that we, as a special economic zone, are particularly keen to support. It is important to us that the investment will be carried out by the proven team of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland. The proximity of the occupied areas, combined with the developed local transport infrastructure, effectively creates a local entrepreneurship hub. Experience shows that a large production plant can also become a space for the development of many smaller companies – emphasizes Krzysztof Hołub, Vice President of Wałbrzyska Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna „Invest-Park”.

By joining our global production network in Europe, with plants in Germany and Spain, the factory planned in Poland underscores the continuous transformation to make our network more efficient, flexible, and focused on the electric future of mobility. Modern technologies will be implemented on the production lines to build high-quality premium vans for our customers, based on the VAN.EA architecture – announces Francesco Ciancia, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Operations.
