Nextbike Polska is opening an operational and production center with an area of nearly 8,000 sqm at Prologis Park Warsaw II. The facility combines the functions of a high-bay warehouse, a bicycle assembly plant, and a center for printing components and markings.
The Polish branch currently serves as an operational hub for Central and Eastern Europe and the Nordic countries, while simultaneously being responsible for production support for other European markets. The new operational and production center at Prologis Park Warsaw II is a key element of this transformation.
The investment is part of a new business strategy under which the company is moving away from an outsourcing model – previously implemented in, among others, Germany and the Czech Republic – in favor of insourcing in Poland. The new Nextbike location will employ over 100 people, including specialists in logistics, procurement, production, and service. Concentrating key processes in one place will allow for increased operational efficiency and better responsiveness to the needs of the markets that Nextbike serves across Europe.
„The opening of the new operational and production center is a key step for the nextbike group towards further development in, among others, Central and Eastern Europe and the Nordic countries. Together with Prologis, we will create a modern industrial space that will not only increase our operational efficiency but also allow us to integrate strategic processes within Poland, such as the production and recycling of city bikes, which will then be sent to over 20 European countries where we are present. This is part of our strategy, under which we want to develop competencies within the group instead of relying on external services. As the largest operator of bicycle systems in Europe, we want to be a leader not only in terms of scale but also in quality, innovation, and a sustainable approach” – said
Tomasz Wojtkiewicz, CEO Nextbike CEE & Nordics. The creation of the operational and production center at Prologis Park Warsaw II is the result of a partnership with Prologis. The developer played a key role in adapting the facility to Nextbike's needs and ensuring appropriate conditions for the implementation of production processes. In response to the client's requirements, the functions of a high-bay warehouse, an assembly plant, and a zone for printing components and markings were combined in one location. Such a layout of the facility will enable the development of automated production and bicycle recycling, supply chain optimization, and the implementation of innovative analytical tools supporting service and operational activities.
„The cooperation with Nextbike is an excellent example of how we create solutions together with our clients that genuinely support business growth. The facility at Prologis Park Warsaw II was designed to fully meet Nextbike's specific operational needs – from assembly processes and logistics to automation. It was equally important for us to provide the client with full cost predictability. That is why the agreement was concluded under the Clear Lease® model, a solution based on fixed operating fees throughout the entire lease term. It guarantees full predictability of operating costs and eliminates the risk of unexpected expenses. Thanks to this, Nextbike can fully focus on operational development” – said
Patryk Czechowski, Leasing Associate at Prologis. The facility at Prologis Park Warsaw II was designed with long-term development in mind. Over the next 4–5 years, Nextbike plans to double its fleet of bicycles in Europe to over 200,000 units, partly with the support of European Union social and climate funds.
Prologis Park Warsaw II is a modern distribution center with a total area of 39,000 sqm, located in the heart of the largest consumer market in Poland.
