Panattoni, the most active industrial developer in the world, has completed a three-building complex in Radzymin for Poczta Polska. The development is to play a key role in the implementation of one of the operator’s strategic initiatives, its Logistics Network Architecture (LNA) project. Within the 50,000 sqm logistics centre is to operate a sorter capable of handling over 15,000 packages an hour.
Across the entire country, Panattoni has delivered over 4 mln sqm of space to the e-commerce sector and has developed centres for some of the global giants of the industry. The developer is also a partner of Poczta Polska, which has been steadily modernising its infrastructure to meet the demands of servicing the rapidly developing online retail market. The Logistics Network Architecture initiative will enable it to smoothly transition from its current network, which is predominantly designed for handling letters, to one that is dominated by CEP (courier, express and parcel) deliveries and e-commerce.
The development in Ciemne near Radzymin is currently one of the most important activities being carried out by the company. By gaining a new logistics centre in the direct vicinity of Warsaw, we will be able to service the growing volumes of parcel and palette deliveries and automate our logistics processes. By as soon as next year, the hall will be equipped with the company’s largest parcel sorter - says
Krzysztof Falkowski, the CEO of Poczta Polska.Panattoni has developed centres in Kalisz and Białystok for Poczta Polska and, before the end of August, the developer completed three buildings in Radzymin including two halls of 14,574 sqm and 30,364 sqm and a 600 sqm control centre. As part of the complex, Panattoni provided cross-dock warehousing and operational space where a sorter with Cross-Belt technology is to be mounted to automatically handle courier, express and parcel deliveries. The machine is to have six automatic and six manual feed lines. With over 300 chutes, it will be able to service as many as 15,000 parcels an hour. The entire system is designed to optimise the workload and includes bar-code scanning, sorting and the final chutes. As well as the operational section, Panattoni has also built a workshop equipped to service delivery vehicles and lorries including a 5,000 sqm shelter.
The Polish e-commerce market has grown fivefold in value over the last decade and almost tripled over the past five years. With the rapid development of the sector, consumer expectations in regard to service and above all in regard to delivery speeds have also grown. The hi-tech centre in Radzymin will allow Poczta Polska to improve its logistics network and compete with the largest players for the expanding courier and parcel services market. We are pleased to have once again been a partner in this revolution and to have played our part in raising the standard of the entire e-commerce sector - surmises
Marek Dobrzycki, the Managing Director of Panattoni.
The development is situated around 25 km from the centre of Warsaw allowing it to effectively handle the region’s growing volume of parcel deliveries. The complex is to be environmentally certified under BREEAM for a rating of Excellent. Numerous energy and water saving solutions have been employed in the centre as well as solutions to limit CO2 emissions.
