Panattoni has completed the construction of a forklift assembly plant for KION Group, one of the world's largest suppliers of intralogistics solutions and warehouse technology, which includes well-known brands such as Linde, STILL, and Dematic. The facility, covering over 44,000 sqm in Kołbaskowo near Szczecin, was built in accordance with the most stringent environmental protection guidelines.
Modern technologies in the service of the environment. The implementation of the Panattoni project for KION Group began last year and lasted less than 10 months. KION Group is one of the largest suppliers of solutions for improving the flow of materials and information in production plants, warehouses, and distribution centers. The concern, listed on the German stock exchange index (MDAX), is also the largest manufacturer of industrial trucks in Europe and the second largest in the world, as well as a leading supplier of automation technology. As part of the investment in Kołbaskowo, a facility with an area of over 44,000 sqm was created. In the ultra-modern building - in addition to the production area - there is also a research and development center and an administrative center. Ultimately, 150 people will find work here, and full production will start in the spring of 2021.
The project in Kołbaskowo was a very demanding undertaking because it had to meet stringent standards in terms of environmental protection and sustainable development: „Thanks to the excellent cooperation with KION Group as well as the Kołbaskowo municipality and the district office in Police, an extremely modern facility was created, realized in accordance with the best standards of sustainable development.” - explains Michał Samborski, Head of Development at Panattoni. This is also part of KION Group's strategy: last year alone, the company reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by six percent. Care for the environment also characterizes the Group's product portfolio. About 85 percent of the industrial trucks produced by the company are already electrically powered.
„The location of the facility was also significant, thanks to which we were able to significantly optimize our own logistics within the Group, which is also environmentally friendly. The new investment was built in the center of Europe, right next to the border with Germany. Thanks to such a location and excellent infrastructure in the region, we can successfully serve the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) markets and benefit from an excellent network of local suppliers” – explains Knut Angres, Plant Manager at KION Group.
Panattoni completed the investment for KION Group in Kołbaskowo in the vicinity of the A6 route, 2 km from the border with Germany. This will allow reaching Berlin and its airports in less than two hours. Only 40 minutes separate this location from the airport in Szczecin, and the same amount of time from the seaport of Szczecin-Świnoujście. The nearby S3 expressway will ultimately connect the West Pomeranian Voivodeship with Poznań, Wrocław, and Prague in the Czech Republic.
