Prologis to build a factory for Ziehl-Abegg in Łódź

We have witnessed the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a factory for Ziehl-Abegg at the Prologis Park Łódź logistics park. The ribbon at the new investment site was cut by Joachim Ley, COO of Ziehl-Abegg, Paweł Sapek, Head of Prologis for Central Europe, and Adam Pustelnik, First Deputy Mayor of the city of Łódź.

Ziehl-Abbeg, one of the leading companies in the field of ventilation, control, and drive technology, will lease 17,000 square meters in a BTS-type facility at Prologis Park Łódź. The newly built factory will employ 400 people. The facility is scheduled to be commissioned on June 1, 2023.

Megatrends such as digitalization, climate change, and urbanization are increasing demand and require a significant expansion of our production capacities. That is why we decided to invest approximately 50 million euros in a new production plant in central Poland. We assume the creation of 300 to 400 new jobs within five years" – said Joachim Ley, COO of Ziehl-Abegg.

I am pleased with another investment in Łódź. This is the further development of areas that we designated for industrial activity many years ago. The new plant producing fans will employ 400 people – this is good news for Łódź.  Every investment and every new job in our city is a cause for joy. And for that, I am grateful – summarized Adam Pustelnik, First Deputy Mayor of the City of Łódź.

The DC1 building, with a clear height of 12 meters, will be energy-efficient and oriented towards the use of renewable energy sources. It will undergo BREEAM certification and will apply for an „Excellent” rating, which will confirm that the facility exemplarily meets international requirements in the field of sustainable construction.

Locating a factory in a logistics park is a decision that requires three things – a stable partner for cooperation, favorable utility prices, and the creation of an attractive workplace for future employees. We have provided all of this at Prologis Park Łódź. Cost transparency, the simple Clear Lease® agreement, the use of RES, and finally the new glass facade of the office section meant that the company will begin operations in our park as early as mid-2023 – summarized Piotr Lenczewski, Leasing & Customer Experience Manager at Prologis.

The new warehouse will be equipped with the latest solutions offered by Ziehl-Abegg. The entire roof surface will be prepared for the installation of a photovoltaic system. Additionally, destratifiers will be placed in the building, which will enable heat recovery by drawing heated air from the ceiling level to the lower parts of the room. There is also the possibility of installing heat pumps. Up to 12.5% of the lighting will consist of natural daylight – both in the office and in the hall. The building will be characterized by increased thermal insulation of the walls and roof, which will significantly reduce the energy consumption needed for heating and cooling the rooms. As part of the PARKlife™ initiative, the development of green areas is also planned, including the construction of a sports field for team games.
