Rohlig Suus Logistics opens a branch in Zielona Góra

The COVID-19 pandemic has radically changed the shopping habits of Poles. Overnight, we started buying most products online. According to forecasts by PwC, in 2026 the gross value of the Polish e-commerce market will reach 162 billion PLN, which means an average annual growth of 12 percent. The largest increase in online sales is expected in the food and health and beauty product categories.

The potential of the e-commerce sector is also recognized by the Polish logistics operator, Rohlig Suus Logistics, which is intensively developing the operational capabilities of its domestic distribution network by launching new branches in promising locations. One of them is the Lubusz Voivodeship, where in the years 2001-2019 the value of GDP growth per capita amounted to an average of 3-4 percent annually, which placed this region in the second best group of EU regions. The development of the voivodeship is also supported by the proximity of the country's western border, the interest of foreign investors, and an extensive economic zone.

According to the "E-commerce in Poland" report, as many as 77 percent of internet users made a purchase at least once in 2021, which means an increase of 4 percentage points compared to 2020. At Rohlig Suus Logistics, we are also observing greater interest in online shopping, e.g., in the area of "home deliveries" we have grown by 16 percent year-on-year. Such dynamic development of e-commerce in recent years has meant that in order to meet market demand and current customer requirements, we are densifying our distribution network by opening new terminals. We believe that the rapid growth of e-commerce in Poland obliges logistics operators to be closer to the final recipient – says Adam Galek, member of the board at Rohlig Suus Logistics.

The new branch in Zielona Góra will not only improve the services we provide but will also allow us to carry out orders more cost-effectively. This investment is an important element for us in implementing our contract logistics development strategy and allows us to be closer to our clients' businesses – he adds.

The new facility of the Polish logistics operator, Rohlig Suus Logistics, is a class A warehouse with an area of nearly 3,000 sqm, located in an economic zone covering over 160 ha in Nowy Kisielin in Zielona Góra. The logistics warehouse is equipped with a transshipment terminal and aims to increase the operational capabilities of the company's domestic distribution network.

We have long noticed the logistical demand of the region, which until now we have fulfilled using the services of a partner. Our own branch increases our operational capabilities fivefold and is an important element in the company's development strategy in the region. First and foremost, we will focus on serving local businesses and domestic general cargo – says Katarzyna Rusin, director of the Poznań branch at Rohlig Suus Logistics.

Zielona Góra is an important city from the point of view of domestic and international logistics, among other things due to its excellent connection to the European motorway system (A2, A18 roads). Two corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network – TEN-T: Baltic-Adriatic and North Sea-Baltic run through the area.

Zielona Góra is undoubtedly a city with great potential, located in a favorable geographical location. Excellent connectivity and proximity to large transshipment hubs mean that the new branch plays an important role in the company's organic growth – adds Adam Galek, member of the board at Rohlig Suus Logistics.

The warehouse in Zielona Góra is another investment by the company as part of its strategy of being as close as possible to clients' businesses. Recently, the Polish logistics operator launched a branch in Pilsen in the Czech Republic. Currently, Rohlig Suus Logistics has 31 branches.
