Construction of the most modern Żabka warehouse, located near Radzymin near Warsaw, began in mid-January this year and will last until 2022. The center will be equipped with innovative automated solutions that will not only speed up logistics services for stores and improve service quality for franchisees, but will also be environmentally friendly. As part of the project, a high-bay storage section, the so-called "high bay", 40 m high, will be built. Developer 7R is responsible for the investment.
"The logistics center near Radzymin near Warsaw with a total area of approx. 60,000 sqm will be the largest and most modern facility in our infrastructure. The warehouse will be automated and at the same time energy-efficient to minimize the impact on the natural environment. The center is of strategic importance to our chain, which is why we decided to participate in this project also as an investor to ensure the highest possible standard of execution, which will serve Żabka as a tenant for many years" – says Tomasz Suchański, CEO of Żabka Polska.
The warehouse is a BTS project, i.e., prepared according to the individual needs of the Żabka chain and optimizing all its logistics operations. The building in the "high bay" section will be four times higher than a standard warehouse, and advanced technological solutions will be used to operate it.
"We are full of appreciation watching how Żabka implements its business strategy in the spirit of ecological construction and aims really high in terms of selecting modern proptech solutions in the new investment near Radzymin. This is the first such advanced facility for the food industry in Poland. In addition to the "high bay" building, as part of the investment, we will provide cold storage rooms, freezers, car washes, and drying rooms. We are very happy that we can implement this project together" – adds
Bartłomiej Krawiecki, Member of the Board, Head of Development at 7R.The new logistics center will be characterized by a large storage capacity. It will house cold storage areas and high-class systems supporting the automation of the logistics processes carried out within it. The center will be able to handle approx. 5,000 m3 of goods shipped daily. The building will be equipped with the latest logistics automation technologies, including automatic transport and a pallet silo or Goods To Man picking stations, guaranteeing a several-fold increase in operational efficiency.
In the new Żabka logistics center, a number of solutions will be used, thanks to which the facility will perform logistics functions while maintaining care for low CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. The building will be powered by green energy from photovoltaic panels. The investment will also use special paving stones and anti-smog towers as well as a greywater system to increase the efficiency of its consumption.
"As a developer, we believe that all innovative solutions used in warehouse construction should perform two basic functions: effectively handle processes inside the building and serve the purpose of responsible development. According to these principles, we designed the facility for Żabka near Radzymin. The process of planning and starting construction work was very dynamic, and thanks to the support of local authorities, we were able to quickly start the development process" – concludes
Maciej Krawiecki, Head of Leasing at 7R.Construction near Radzymin has already started, and the planned commissioning of the investment will take place in mid-2022. In 2023, the logistics center will be fully equipped with automated solutions.
