Żabka bets on Rzgów, a new logistics center is being built

In Rzgów near Łódź, the cornerstone was laid for a modern logistics center for Żabka. The facility is set to have 42,000 sqm and provide service to over 11,800 stores.

- The Łódź Voivodeship has been building its position for years as the logistics heart of Poland - a place where the most important transport routes of the country and Europe intersect. That is why it is no coincidence that subsequent companies choose our region to develop their investments here. The modern logistics center of Żabka is the best example of this, but we encourage further investors to choose the Łódź region as a place to implement their projects - said Piotr Wojtysiak, Deputy Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship.

The mayor of Rzgów - the city where the facility is being built - spoke positively about the project.

- This is an investment that not only raises the prestige of our city, but above all provides real benefits to residents and the local economy. Thanks to this investment, new jobs will be created, and the municipality will gain a stable partner that brings innovative solutions and modern management standards to our region. Rzgów is a dynamically developing municipality, and the presence of such a large and recognizable enterprise confirms that we are an attractive place for investment. I am glad that together we will be able to build the future of our city based on sustainable development and cooperation with business - said Mateusz Kamiński, Mayor of Rzgów.

The total area of the new, semi-automated logistics center will be approx. 42,000 sqm. Plans include a cold store, a freezer, an automatic picking zone, and an office and social area. The investment is being carried out by Dekpol Budownictwo, which is also responsible for the construction of the accompanying infrastructure, including a section of a public road.

- Construction is proceeding according to schedule, based on partnership cooperation with the investor and local authorities. This is another facility in our portfolio prepared for international BREEAM certification, which is proof of the highest quality of the investment. We also appreciate that the investor decided on a comprehensive Design and Build formula, which significantly streamlines the implementation of such a strategic project - said Jacek Hnatiuk, Executive Director and Member of the Management Board of Dekpol Budownictwo.

- Logistics is one of the main pillars of our network's development. The opening of a new logistics center will allow us not only to increase the efficiency of the entire supply chain and streamline the logistics structure, but will also guarantee efficient and comprehensive delivery service to over 11,800 stores across the entire network. This investment is also a real contribution to the development of the region – thanks to it, several hundred new jobs will be created, which constitutes significant value for the local community - said Przemysław Kijewski, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Żabka Polska.

Dekpol Budownictwo, as the general contractor, is implementing the investment in a "Design and Build" formula. This means comprehensive support for the investor in both the design and execution processes. The team is responsible for obtaining the necessary decisions and permits – from environmental and water-legal to road permits – and also conducts arrangements with network operators, road managers, and environmental administration. This supports the smooth implementation of the project.

So far, the sub-base for the floor has been completed, as well as excavations for footings and foundation strips. Currently, the assembly of the prefabricated reinforced concrete structure and the assembly of the steel roof structure are underway. The enclosure of the hall's shell is planned by the end of the year.

Technologies and resources of the Dekpol Group are widely used in the implementation: precast elements are supplied by the company Betpref, while earthworks and road works are carried out thanks to the resources of Dekpol's own machinery park.

The logistics center being built near Łódź is the ninth facility of this type for Żabka. It will serve as a regional base, serving stores in the central part of the country.

The completion of the investment within the scope commissioned to the general contractor is planned for the second half of 2026, and the center is expected to become operational in 2027.
