Ecological modernization for HL Display at SEGRO Business Park Gliwice

The Swedish company HL Display, specializing in in-store communication, merchandising, and product displays, has extended its lease of 10,000 sqm at SEGRO Business Park Gliwice. Additionally, an ecological adaptation of the leased space will be carried out for the client.

HL Display has been leasing warehouse space at SEGRO Business Park Gliwice since 2010. The Swedish company provides solutions to improve the quality of shopping in over 70 countries, employing over 1,000 people worldwide. The enterprise also has long-standing experience in achieving goals within its sustainability strategy. Since 2010, HL Display has been a member of the UN Global Compact, and in 2020, it became one of the signatories of the Science Based Targets initiative, which aims to promote the setting of carbon footprint reduction targets based on scientific knowledge. Therefore, the proposal for the ecological modernization of the 10,000 m2 area occupied by the company in Gliwice, one of the goals of which will be to minimize carbon dioxide emissions, perfectly aligned with the company's objectives.

"During our nearly 12 years of operation at the SEGRO park, we have managed to implement many business projects and successively expand the company's operations in the CEE region. We appreciate the benefits of continuing our joint venture with SEGRO, especially in terms of a shared strategy aimed at achieving climate neutrality. While extending our lease in Gliwice, we really liked the proposal to modernize the space, which will make it more ecological." – says Magdalena Oczko, Factory Manager at HL Display.

As part of the changes, numerous innovations are planned, including replacing standard lighting with energy-efficient LED lighting. Additionally, the lighting will be controlled by an intelligent DALI system, which, thanks to motion and daylight sensors, will be able to reduce artificial lighting on sunny days or when there is no movement in a given part of the warehouse. A cloud-based media monitoring system will also be implemented, enabling real-time control of energy or gas consumption. Moreover, the modernization includes the installation of photovoltaic panels, and energy will be stored in solar collectors and later used to heat water for general use.  As part of the ecological adaptation, electric vehicle chargers and bicycle racks will also appear in the building. Additional plantings are planned around the facility, and another apiary for bees, as well as insect hotels, will be placed in its vicinity.

"From the very beginning, we design our facilities so that they can serve clients for a long time and so that modernizations in line with the times are possible. By rearranging the building occupied by HL Display, we extend its lifespan while optimizing its current operating costs. Moreover, we do this in the spirit of ecology, for which we did not have to persuade our client, as we share a common goal, i.e., striving to minimize our carbon footprint in our daily operations. Additionally, the new agreement with HL Display is another recent extension of cooperation with a long-term client, which is a source of pride for us. It proves the trust resulting from the strong relationships we have managed to build over the years."  – adds Joanna Janiszewska, Regional Director at SEGRO.
